Dress Code

*Updated and in effect: August 14th, 2024*

Ladies Dress Code:
Leotard and tights are preferred, leggings, fitted tank top/t-shirt, ballet skirts, and ballet dresses are also allowed. Instructors must be able to see body shape to refine positioning and technique.
Ballet shoes, Jazz shoes, or socks are required for all students. Students may not wear tights only on their feet for safety. Modern/Contemporary Footies may also be worn by Early Teen, Teen Girls, and Teen Boys classes in addition to Ballet or Jazz shoes.
Ballet Shoes: Canvas split sole ballet shoes are recommended.

Gentlemen Dress Code:

Tank tops and t-shirts are allowed. Sweatpants or joggers. Please do not wear any jeans or pants with beltloops. A dance belt and/or compression shorts are required. Instructors must be able to see body shape to refine positioning and technique.


Pairs Dress Code:
Ladies: leotards are required under any additional layers for safety and comfort for both participants to allow a comfortable and secure grip for any lifts, spins, etc.
Gentlemen: No pants with belt loops. A dance belt and/or compression shorts are required for this.


Co-Ed Dress Code:
Please be respectful of your fellow classmates (i.e. age, gender, culture, etc) and choose clothing which will allow you to move comfortably without constant readjustment required to allow for concentration on technique and team building.

Hair:
Hair must be pulled back from the face. Pony tail, braids, bun, etc. are acceptable options. Bangs must be pulled back using bobby pins or headbands to keep hair from dancers’ eyes. Gentlemen, please plan to bring a headband or ponytail holder if your hair falls into your face.
No jewelry except stud earrings are allowed in class.

Summer or Spring Showcase Dress Code:
All students must wear the costume assigned by Isabella Kearney for performance.
Ballet shoes, jazz shoes, footies, or solid black socks (no logos) must be worn during the Showcase.
No jewelry is allowed during the Spring Showcase.
Ladies: Hair must be worn in a ballet bun with bangs and flyaways pulled back using bobby pins, hairspray, and gel. No headbands, bows, nail polish, etc. may be worn for Spring Showcase.
Gentlemen: Hair must be back from the face using hairspray, gel, bobby pins etc. Ponytail should be worn if hair covers the faces when the student dances.
